Verydeeprecords is now around for three years and celebrates their birthday with a nice compilation that goes by the name „3YRSVDR“. 15 tracks made it onto the tape, which comes in an artsy cover and a puristic, white cassette. As usual the Nuremberg label features tracks from themselves and friends. On board are Me Succeeds, Christoff Riedel, Carlesy, Allie, [ ], Bambi Davidson, An Elm, Philipp Roth, Magic Meru, Soft Grid, Red On, Lorin Strohm, Edna X, Stadt aus Draht, Vincent von Flieger and William Black. Some of them share originals, while others remixed tracks. In the end Verydeeprecords offers a nice range of sounds from bass music, songwriter stuff and experimental techno with their „Three years of Verydeeprecords [3YRSVDR]“ package.
With our 44th edition we warmly welcome Albert Imhof. The Nuremberg regular, who recently moved to Leipzig and since than commutes between those cities, crafted a cozy mix for us. Warm house beats meet soft soul chips, energetic disco and uplifting funk. Perfect timing with the weather changing from dark and cold to bright and warm. If you’re from or around Nuremberg you definitely know Albert from several parties like You Can Win, Jack It! and many others. He almost played every club in the city because of his diverse taste in music. House, techno, soul, disco, funk just to name a few genres he really likes. Besides his musical taste and background Albert simply is a nice guy which company is very enjoyable, so if you have the chance go and see him play and when you do so grab a beer and a exchange some words with him, you won’t regret it.
Ohrenschmaus Podcast #042 was selected and mixed by marko m., the main man behind this blog and podcast series. After a bit more than 6 months he finally found his love and passion for house and techno again. In this 60 minutes long episode he takes us on a neat little trip through slow house tracks that have a basic vibe and certain calmness, before uplifting house meets some superb dub techno tracks from past and present. Besides his Ohrenschmaus Podcast project marko studies journalism, plays some hip hop, trap and cloud rap in bars and at parties in nuremberg and mainly takes care of his club nights „The Inner City Soul“ and „SWEEP“ he holds every 2 to 3 months with his best friend and partner in crime Birke TM. This will the last podcast for 2016 and we will be back with some very talented djs in 2017 when it comes to new music, the blog will remain active with a few new texts and more to come in the next days and week.
The 15th release of the Nuremberg based label Verydeeprecords is the first one to appear on vinyl, after several tapes and digital projects from artists like Bambi Davidson, Christoff Riedel, Vincent von Flieger, Willis Anne, Magic Meru and many more. „Ghana Remixed“ by Red On is a great four track heavy EP with remixes and edits by The Marx Trukker, A. Elm, Alex Ketzer and Red On himself under his Philipp Roth alias. As usual there were no musical boundaries on this project and it ended up with diverse re-interpretations of the original tracks, somewhere between left-field house and experimental techno. Javier Carballo is a new and upcoming producer from the Canary Islands. The Spaniard makes his debut on Tabla Records after output on labels like La Vie En Rose and his very own Overall Music Limited Series imprint. The „Loopera Prima EP“ depicts his sense for minimalistic and driving techno and house music. The sixth publication from Tabla offers three original tracks by Javier and a great remix by S. Moreira who already made a name for himself with his productions for the Slow Life collective from Berlin. Keep reading
After the split series by Jazz:Pa for #012.1 and #012.2 with his Organix and Synthetix mixes we are back with a new Hip Hop Selection by ourselves. No scratching, no juggling, just some blends and nice beats and raps. This time we kept it smooth with german rap and instrumentals.
Please enjoy this Hip Hop Selection, your OP!
With Ohrenschmaus Podcast Hip Hop Selection #012.2 we continue our split series by our good friend Jazz:Pa and finish this project as well. In selection #012.1 Benni took care of organic sounds with that golden feeling from the 90ies, that’s why part one was called Organix. In part two he takes care of synthetic music from the hip hop field, including so called future beats, bass music and just modern hip hop beats and rap tracks. That’s also the sound you’ll find at his party Beat Thang at K4, one of the best parties in and around Nuremberg. If you want to know more about Benni aka Jazz:Pa please check part one of this split series and take the time to read the short information there as well.
Ohrenschmaus Podcast Hip Hop Selection #12.1 marks an important point in the history of our SLCTN series. It’s the first split mix series, inside of the series itself. For this particular project we connected with a very good friend of our own. There’s one person in Nuremberg that has a lot of knowledge about, and love for hip hop. The peeps from bratwurst city already know who we are talkin‘ about: Jazz:Pa. It doesn’t matter if you love those dope gems from back in the days, those dope soul, funk, r’n’b or disco records that were sampled or the new bass music and future beat movement. Benni knows and plays them all. He really takes care about bringing quality music from the hip hop field, whether it is new or old shit, to the city. If you don’t believe us please check the bookings at his own party Beat Thang. Besides smashing some of the finest parties in and around Nuremberg he also has his own radio show called Beat Repeat on Byte.fm. Check him out, it will be worth your time, he has mad skills. Back to our selection #12.1 in his first mix Organix he selected music with that unique old school, organic, sample based touch which is well known from the golden era back in the 90ies. While listening to his selection you will notice there are classics as well as new tracks that perfectly match that classic feeling. Enjoy #12.1. and stay tuned for #12.2. called “synthetix”, your op.
We are back with a new Hip Hop Selection. Please enjoy our trip through us rap from the nineties mixed up with some dope instrumentals every now and then. We recorded this mix on this rainy thursday in Nuremberg in our nice and cozy home.
All the best, OP. One love.
