[Not] Hip Hop Selection #021 by Albert Imhof

Our SLCTNs

While everybody is trapped inside looking out of their window, watching live streams, taking a sunbath on their balcony or doing something else more or less productive we wanted to give you a soothing soundtrack. Albert Imhof came around the corner with a blissful mix that perfectly fits the SLCTN series which has expanded and is not just taking care of hip hop anymore. Strange times need strange sounds and that’s what Albert perfectly brought to the table. Gloomy tracks melt into a river that’s filled with colourful and ease sounds. Sometimes you’re the fish, sometimes you’re the river. However, just follow the flow and don’t fight the stream. You’ll find out why on yourself while stumbling upon some gems in the vigorous water. Thanks for the second trip through your musical universe Albert. It’s tempting!

As Albert and Ohrenschmaus Podcast are close friends of blok, we decided to upload this mix a few days earlier. We want to help them with their superb poster and wine delivery which they’ve set up. If you’re from Nuremberg you can buy a poster or wine and they will deliver it to you this Saturday, the 11th of April. This supports them financially in these rough times and helps them to pay their workers and bills. If you’re from outside of Nuremberg they will send it to you as well. If you can help simply donate even if you can’t get your hands on a poster or a bottle of wine. Patrick’s bar is one of the best spots for high-quality music. It is a steady platform that gives DJs, musicians and creatives a chance to shine.

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #058 – Deper

Our Podcasts

For our 58th edition we bring in some hot and positive vibes that are dripping with rawness and rough sample influences. deper. from Hamburg simply contacted us because he really liked our show and if someone sents us a nice mail we also check it out and see if it fits our vision and guess what!? It did. So even though the sun hasn’t been seen this spring and there’s snow all over Nuremberg we still want to bring you some bright sounds. deper., the 24 years old rap lover compiled and mixed a nice selection for our listening pleasures. You can clearly hear his hip hop background and love for artists like Cypress Hill, DJ Premier and more. His love for jazz and funk also reaches out to his taste in house music. Labels like Beste Modus, Robsoul, Rutilance Recordings and many more shape his sound and fit his style clearly as you can hear. If you’re down for some smashing deep house with jazz, funk and hip hop influences deper. should’ve saved your sunday boys & girls. Kisses, OP.

Hip Hop Selection #012.2 „Synthetix“ by Jazz:Pa

Our SLCTNs

With Ohrenschmaus Podcast Hip Hop Selection #012.2 we continue our split series by our good friend Jazz:Pa and finish this project as well. In selection #012.1 Benni took care of organic sounds with that golden feeling from the 90ies, that’s why part one was called Organix. In part two he takes care of synthetic music from the hip hop field, including so called future beats, bass music and just modern hip hop beats and rap tracks. That’s also the sound you’ll find at his party Beat Thang at K4, one of the best parties in and around Nuremberg. If you want to know more about Benni aka Jazz:Pa please check part one of this split series and take the time to read the short information there as well.

Hip Hop Selection #012.1 „Organix“ by Jazz:Pa

Our SLCTNs

Ohrenschmaus Podcast Hip Hop Selection #12.1 marks an important point in the history of our SLCTN series. It’s the first split mix series, inside of the series itself. For this particular project we connected with a very good friend of our own. There’s one person in Nuremberg that has a lot of knowledge about, and love for hip hop. The peeps from bratwurst city already know who we are talkin‘ about: Jazz:Pa. It doesn’t matter if you love those dope gems from back in the days, those dope soul, funk, r’n’b or disco records that were sampled or the new bass music and future beat movement. Benni knows and plays them all. He really takes care about bringing quality music from the hip hop field, whether it is new or old shit, to the city. If you don’t believe us please check the bookings at his own party Beat Thang. Besides smashing some of the finest parties in and around Nuremberg he also has his own radio show called Beat Repeat on Byte.fm. Check him out, it will be worth your time, he has mad skills. Back to our selection #12.1 in his first mix Organix he selected music with that unique old school, organic, sample based touch which is well known from the golden era back in the 90ies. While listening to his selection you will notice there are classics as well as new tracks that perfectly match that classic feeling. Enjoy #12.1. and stay tuned for #12.2. called “synthetix”, your op.
