Porter finally released his „Elevate EP“ on Rubisco. Rubisco is the freshly found label run by Nick Beringer. After a neat bunch of releases, Nick finally launched his own imprint. The Berlin based house-head made the next step after releasing on various labels before. After the first output by himself, it is now Porter’s time to shine. Sounds cheesy, sounds good. With his „Elevate EP“, Porter showcases three strong house cuts that feature all the goods a tidy house EP has to offer. Powerful drums, solid pads, exquisite strings and a beautiful atmosphere. Let’s just get into the details.
Tilman and Soutine team up for the fourth release on the small Fine imprint, which is run by Tilman himself and Frank Music’s very own Johannes Albert. While Tilman is pretty familiar to us with his warm, discoish and sample based house sound, we had to do some research about Soutine. Now that we did that, we can say it’s a match sound wise. Soutine, who is based in Florence relies on the same idea behind his music, but he plays around with more uptempo styles as displayed on his „OZ“ EP which came out in February 2016 on his own Oltrarno Recordings. Using the same foundation and generating a neat symbiosis out of the different influences they have, a very enjoyable record came out in the end of that process.
Interview: Marbod – „Producing music primarily for the dance floor would quickly weaken my will and enthusiasm.“
We finally managed to get in touch with Marbod to talk about his musical upbringing, what impact hip hop had in his musical growth, what it’s like to run a label and what drinks he’s into at the moment. Dirk Puchta really is a jack of all trades. He’s not only producing house and techno under his Marbod moniker, but also running the neat Lofile Records imprint and his own cafe Filterhouse, located at Graefekiez in Berlin. Pretty much to do, but still Dirk might be one of the loveliest, funniest and cheerful perons you’ll probably meet. On top he’s producing and playing great music, his food and coffee is delicious as well. Almost too good to be true.
The second release from Olympos is called „Apollo“ and once again delivers a nice variety of contemporary club tracks from the fields of house and techno. Apollo is the god of light, cure and spring in Greek mythology to bring you the title a bit closer. As usual the artist behind this EP stays unknown for now, nevertheless it’s obvious that whoever it is really has some great sense for crafting sharp and powerful rhythms. After the strong first release the label from Greek keeps up his great effort and shapes his profile once more. Keep reading
