The 15th release of the Nuremberg based label Verydeeprecords is the first one to appear on vinyl, after several tapes and digital projects from artists like Bambi Davidson, Christoff Riedel, Vincent von Flieger, Willis Anne, Magic Meru and many more. „Ghana Remixed“ by Red On is a great four track heavy EP with remixes and edits by The Marx Trukker, A. Elm, Alex Ketzer and Red On himself under his Philipp Roth alias. As usual there were no musical boundaries on this project and it ended up with diverse re-interpretations of the original tracks, somewhere between left-field house and experimental techno. The „Kingsize EP“ is the debut release on Simon Ferdinand’s very own and freshly founded Polycarp Records imprint. With several releases on labels like Night Drive Music, Landed Records and Frank Music he already put his name on the map. Now with his new label he has a proper foundation to release his own tracks and works from friends and artists that match his idea or share his vision of contemporary house music. With the „Kingsize EP“ he sticks to his sound with loop-based and clearly structured club tracks that are still playful and come with a certain drive. The first release is a solid package of three original tracks and a decent Map.ache remix off the title track. Keep reading
Michael Melchner is back in business with his π Came First EP for Madrid’s very own Colt Music label. After several releases on labels like Concealed Sounds, Paragram, DoEasy, Love Letters From Oslo and many more, Michael once again shows us his idea of minimalistic house and techno that clearly relies on simple structures and a driving groove to keep dancers and clubgoers over the world in motion. For the third release by Colt Music he sticks to his strengths and offers a nicely done thee track EP. He joins the label after records from Hamid and a re-release by Brian Harden which also offered minimalistic and grooving tracks to the young label’s catalogue. Keep reading
For our 28th edition of our monthly podcast series we invited a very special guest. Ohrenschmaus Podcast #028 was recorded by Jazzman, the owner of the Deep Inspiration Show. Over the last years we stumbled across some nice podcasts done by René himself or from one of his guests. So it was clear to us that we would love to welcome him to our small show and publish one of his fine selected and mixed podcasts. His sound could be described as a well balanced symbiosis of house classics and warm house tracks garnished with warm grooves and lovely vocals, some also say he creates a sound that especially people in africa really love. In the end it’s up to you, describe his sound with your own words. one thing is for certain and that’s his great taste in various styles of house music. Ss he has proven again with this podcast, so please enjoy the trip. your Ohrenschmaus Podcast!
Sometimes there’s the feeling someone is starting to make a name for himself, but obviously he already is recognized and well known for his productions. In fact this feeling occurs when we think about Kashawar, the Schweinfurt based dj and producer already released records on labels like Mosaic, Autoreply, Project London Records, La Pena, Gua Limited and so on. He loves vinyl and that’s exactly what is transported when you listen to this live recording of one of his dj sets. Ohrenschmaus Podcast #022 delivers a clearly structured and heavy grooving mix which is somewhere close to the Perlon label soundwise, but no worries it’s a classy selection. This one really has a distinct, but also diversified sound. Thanks for this great addition to our podcast series Kashawar. Please enjoy listening and as always, support the artist. Your OP!
We are back with podcast number nine. Selected and mixed by our good friend Toplat. Originally from the east of Germany he now lives in Nuremberg for quite a long time and became one of our homies. His love for music includes a large variety of genres and sounds as you can hear in the mix. He doesn’t care if it is deep house, techno or some pop-electronica kind of thing. Toplat just mixes all of them together and is still delivering a steady flow, something that’s really fascinating. Besides being a dj he also organizes parties with some of his friends under the name “Soundbox”, which is also a blog for music, festivals and so on. We are blessed to call him a friend and have him in the series, this mix is a bit different than the others but of course delivering quality tunes. Enjoy his selection, your Ohrenschmaus Podcast!
