Three and a half years after Drei Farben House’s third LP „Choice Item“, he is back with his fourth long-playing record „Fluency Fabrics“. It’s the 20th release for his very own Tenderpark imprint and therefore a very nice anniversary. Seven tracks made it onto the record in the end and all of them are spiced with lots of vocal, funk, disco and soul samples. Drei Farben House again delivered what he is known for already. House and deep house with a certain warmth, on point grooves and samples that are a tribute to the originals they were taken from. Of course the whole album is not coming up with serious changes, but that’s not the vision Micha is following. Once again he plays around with sounds that are quite familiar and he already used, but for this album he enmeshes them differently. He flips the old samples and comes up with something new that is still true to his sound. The same approach can be seen on the artwork. „Choice Item“ and „Fluency Fabrics“ both depict architecture in a natural environment, so the aesthetical idea remained the same. So both albums connect on many levels and still „Fluency Fabrics“ is recognizably the next step, with more details soundwise and an even clearer visual message, created by Till Sperle.
Iron Curtis makes his return to Office Recordings from Berlin with his „Maple EP“ marking the 10th release by Baaz’s imprint. After reminiscing on his „The K.M.S. Years EP“, which was the fourth release by Office Recordings, he now shows his more dubby and minimalistic side. After several releases on labels like Morris Audio, Jackoff Records, Boe Recordings, Hudd Traxx, Retreat, Polytone and his album „Soft Wide Waist Band“ on Mirau, he now highlights some dub influences. While we all followed Iron’s progress from beautiful and warm house with focus on chords and strings over to melodic and emotional club music with a more synthetic and modern approach, he secretly crafted some real beauties from the fields of dub techno and ambient, that are now offered to the public as the tenth release on Office. The second release from Polycarp comes with a great selection of tracks. Four tracks by Simon Ferdinand, Johannes Albert, Tilman and Basch offer a nice variety of different house styles sound wise. The Hamburg based label from Simon Ferdinand keeps up the great work that was displayed on the first vinyl with the superb „Poly V.A.“ EP. The tracks are very diverse and reach from classical house with soulful elements to some raw house and techno, as well as slowed down mid tempo goodness. If you’re a house lover you’ll definitely find at least one piece, or even more, that fits your taste. Keep reading
The „Kingsize EP“ is the debut release on Simon Ferdinand’s very own and freshly founded Polycarp Records imprint. With several releases on labels like Night Drive Music, Landed Records and Frank Music he already put his name on the map. Now with his new label he has a proper foundation to release his own tracks and works from friends and artists that match his idea or share his vision of contemporary house music. With the „Kingsize EP“ he sticks to his sound with loop-based and clearly structured club tracks that are still playful and come with a certain drive. The first release is a solid package of three original tracks and a decent Map.ache remix off the title track. Keep reading
With the „Palm Saturdays EP“ Franconian Johannes Albert makes his first move on Mainz based label Klamauk. The 8th release adds some new facets to the catalogue with Johannes‘ very own interpretation of house music. This kind of sound can be found on earlier releases from Frank Music’s label head as well. Whether it is on labels like White, Jackoff Records or his own imprint, always displaying a dirty and old fashioned house sound that bribes with roughness. The three original tracks from Johannes are companied by a superb Christopher Rau up-tempo remix, which rounds up the EP perfectly.
