After Office Recordings 10th release by Iron Curtis and his „Maple EP“ Baaz is back on his own Imprint. Office Recordings 11th release, again, shows a very different side. The Berlin based dj and producer showed his broad musical taste throughout recent releases. Dub techno under his Eric Miller moniker. Sharp house sounds on the latest Idealistmusic. Techno on this very record we are reviewing. The sound ranges from dub techno to ambient and into playful techno. Another side added, another one which is way above average.
Johannes and Johannes team up again. We are speaking about Johannes Paluka, better known as Iron Curtis and Frank Music head honcho Johannes Albert. The Berlin residents joined forces again to craft their first album as Moon. „Industrie & Zärtlichkeit“ is the final product out of this collaboration and it surely depicts the musical influences both have, but somehow it offers much more. „Industrie & Zärtlichkeit“ is not simply filled with Johannes Albert’s rough and cheesy house sound and it’s not only Iron Curtis‘ melodies and exciting chord progression. It’s more of a journey through different decades, times and styles of electronic music developed so far, merged into their very own sound that somewhat pays tribute to everything from the past and also gives us a vision of what could come next. The vinyl LP consists of nine exciting originals and two remixes. Lerosa and Black Spuma took care of the remixes and twisted the original material into their own understanding of electronic music.
Iron Curtis makes his return to Office Recordings from Berlin with his „Maple EP“ marking the 10th release by Baaz’s imprint. After reminiscing on his „The K.M.S. Years EP“, which was the fourth release by Office Recordings, he now shows his more dubby and minimalistic side. After several releases on labels like Morris Audio, Jackoff Records, Boe Recordings, Hudd Traxx, Retreat, Polytone and his album „Soft Wide Waist Band“ on Mirau, he now highlights some dub influences. While we all followed Iron’s progress from beautiful and warm house with focus on chords and strings over to melodic and emotional club music with a more synthetic and modern approach, he secretly crafted some real beauties from the fields of dub techno and ambient, that are now offered to the public as the tenth release on Office. Verydeeprecords is now around for three years and celebrates their birthday with a nice compilation that goes by the name „3YRSVDR“. 15 tracks made it onto the tape, which comes in an artsy cover and a puristic, white cassette. As usual the Nuremberg label features tracks from themselves and friends. On board are Me Succeeds, Christoff Riedel, Carlesy, Allie, [ ], Bambi Davidson, An Elm, Philipp Roth, Magic Meru, Soft Grid, Red On, Lorin Strohm, Edna X, Stadt aus Draht, Vincent von Flieger and William Black. Some of them share originals, while others remixed tracks. In the end Verydeeprecords offers a nice range of sounds from bass music, songwriter stuff and experimental techno with their „Three years of Verydeeprecords [3YRSVDR]“ package.
The „Singular Plankter“ EP by Korablove is the third release by Silhouette Tapes, which resides in Bayreuth. It was founded by cold_am, ShoutLove, VesOFF and Rostislav Kulchitskiy. On their cassette label they release some dark, dubby and experimental tracks from the fields of techno, house, ambient and everything that fits their vision. With Korablove they engaged a skilled producer who has already released his less experimental stuff on labels like Studio R, Elusive, 200 Records, Pro-Tez, Apparel Music, Herz ist Trumpf and so on. His „Singular Plankter“ EP depicts an unknown side of him, playing with everlasting pads, broad strings and calmer drums. Keep reading
The second release from Olympos is called „Apollo“ and once again delivers a nice variety of contemporary club tracks from the fields of house and techno. Apollo is the god of light, cure and spring in Greek mythology to bring you the title a bit closer. As usual the artist behind this EP stays unknown for now, nevertheless it’s obvious that whoever it is really has some great sense for crafting sharp and powerful rhythms. After the strong first release the label from Greek keeps up his great effort and shapes his profile once more. Keep reading
The 9th release on Office Recordings not only provides four sexy house tracks by label honcho Baaz, it also comes with a nice cover that was again designed by Super Quiet. Before Office Recordings celebrates its 10th release Baaz once again puts out some fresh music on his very own label from Berlin. Four minimalistic and yet playful tracks made it onto the record with great artwork. Just a very nice record that not just sounds good on your record player, it also looks awesome on your wall. Baaz once again offers a neat little package on his own Office Recordings Imprint. The „Untitled“ EP is the 8th release on his Berlin based house and techno label. A very enjoyable set of house cuts and ambient works came out at the end of the productional process, again he shows his fine sense for deep house. On top he added some nice ambient vibes and shows his progress when it comes to producing different genres of club music, as you can also hear on his new project which goes by the name Eric Miller with already 2 releases on the sublime Sushitech label where he takes care of dub techno and darker sounds. The 15th release of the Nuremberg based label Verydeeprecords is the first one to appear on vinyl, after several tapes and digital projects from artists like Bambi Davidson, Christoff Riedel, Vincent von Flieger, Willis Anne, Magic Meru and many more. „Ghana Remixed“ by Red On is a great four track heavy EP with remixes and edits by The Marx Trukker, A. Elm, Alex Ketzer and Red On himself under his Philipp Roth alias. As usual there were no musical boundaries on this project and it ended up with diverse re-interpretations of the original tracks, somewhere between left-field house and experimental techno.
