Review: Korablove – Singular Plankter – Silhouette Tapes

HouseReviewsTechno

The „Singular Plankter“ EP by Korablove is the third release by Silhouette Tapes, which resides in Bayreuth. It was founded by cold_am, ShoutLove, VesOFF and Rostislav Kulchitskiy. On their cassette label they release some dark, dubby and experimental tracks from the fields of techno, house, ambient and everything that fits their vision. With Korablove they engaged a skilled producer who has already released his less experimental stuff on labels like Studio R, Elusive, 200 Records, Pro-Tez, Apparel Music, Herz ist Trumpf and so on. His „Singular Plankter“ EP depicts an unknown side of him, playing with everlasting pads, broad strings and calmer drums. Keep reading

Review: Various Artists – Poly V.A. – Polycarp

HouseReviews

The second release from Polycarp comes with a great selection of tracks. Four tracks by Simon Ferdinand, Johannes Albert, Tilman and Basch offer a nice variety of different house styles sound wise. The Hamburg based label from Simon Ferdinand keeps up the great work that was displayed on the first vinyl with the superb „Poly V.A.“ EP. The tracks are very diverse and reach from classical house with soulful elements to some raw house and techno, as well as slowed down mid tempo goodness. If you’re a house lover you’ll definitely find at least one piece, or even more, that fits your taste. Keep reading

Review: Tilman – Back to the People – Fine

HouseReviews

With the second release Tilman, one half of the team behind Fine, takes over. No artwork, just a simple stamp and great music. There’s nothing that distracts you from the thing that counts: the music. Tilman crafted 4 superb house cuts that offer some neat sampling, downtempo, deepness and an old school feeling. In the end four very warm and soulful tracks made their way onto the „Back to the People“ EP. Positive music for the dark and cold winter period.

Review: DJ Loser – DJ Loser – Bliq

HouseReviews

Bliq showcasts DJ Loser’s self titled debut as their 15th release so far. If you take a closer look you will notice that the label already was a platform for many talents that debuted their first physical release on. This time you hear 4 powerful tracks on the a- and b-side, with 3 original tracks and 1 remix by Seixlack. Rough and raw house sounds melt together with driving drums, a bit of acid and lo-fi sound design. Keep reading

Review: Unknown Artist – Apollo – Olympos

HouseReviewsTechno

The second release from Olympos is called „Apollo“ and once again delivers a nice variety of contemporary club tracks from the fields of house and techno. Apollo is the god of light, cure and spring in Greek mythology to bring you the title a bit closer. As usual the artist behind this EP stays unknown for now, nevertheless it’s obvious that whoever it is really has some great sense for crafting sharp and powerful rhythms. After the strong first release the label from Greek keeps up his great effort and shapes his profile once more. Keep reading

The 9th release on Office Recordings not only provides four sexy house tracks by label honcho Baaz, it also comes with a nice cover that was again designed by Super Quiet. Review: Baaz – Untitled [Office08]- Office Recordings

HouseReviewsTechno

Baaz once again offers a neat little package on his own Office Recordings Imprint. The „Untitled“ EP is the 8th release on his Berlin based house and techno label. A very enjoyable set of house cuts and ambient works came out at the end of the productional process, again he shows his fine sense for deep house. On top he added some nice ambient vibes and shows his progress when it comes to producing different genres of club music, as you can also hear on his new project which goes by the name Eric Miller with already 2 releases on the sublime Sushitech label where he takes care of dub techno and darker sounds. Review: Red On – Ghana Remixed – Verydeeprecords

HouseReviewsTechno

The 15th release of the Nuremberg based label Verydeeprecords is the first one to appear on vinyl, after several tapes and digital projects from artists like Bambi Davidson, Christoff Riedel, Vincent von Flieger, Willis Anne, Magic Meru and many more. „Ghana Remixed“ by Red On is a great four track heavy EP with remixes and edits by The Marx Trukker, A. Elm, Alex Ketzer and Red On himself under his Philipp Roth alias. As usual there were no musical boundaries on this project and it ended up with diverse re-interpretations of the original tracks, somewhere between left-field house and experimental techno. Review: Simon Ferdinand – Kingsize EP – Polycarp

HouseReviews

The „Kingsize EP“ is the debut release on Simon Ferdinand’s very own and freshly founded Polycarp Records imprint. With several releases on labels like Night Drive Music, Landed Records and Frank Music he already put his name on the map. Now with his new label he has a proper foundation to release his own tracks and works from friends and artists that match his idea or share his vision of contemporary house music. With the „Kingsize EP“ he sticks to his sound with loop-based and clearly structured club tracks that are still playful and come with a certain drive. The first release is a solid package of three original tracks and a decent Map.ache remix off the title track. Keep reading
