Ohrenschmaus Podcast #067 – Zola

Our Podcasts

After an enormous break, we are back boys and girls. We really enjoyed the summer this year while also going through some exciting times in our private lives. Due to those changes, we will take a step back here at Ohrenschmaus Podcast. From now on we will only continue with our podcasts and selections leaving the journalistic stuff aside for the moment. Anyways. We are back with a delicious mix from Zola. She is on our radar for ages already and we also have her mix for quite a while. (We are so sorry for the delay!) As a part of ashore, she entertained us with lovely house, uplifting disco and dubby tunes for years. For our 67th mix, she travelled through a bunch of genres connecting the bits in pure elegance. Thank you Zola for everything, we are deeply in love with your contribution.

[Not Just] Hip Hop Selection #018 by Chillmatic

Our SLCTNs

After 6 months our SLCTNs series continues with an extended two hours lasting journey by Chillmatic from Nuremberg. Chillmatic is a part of the Ghettoblaster radio show which broadcasts regularly on Radio Z. While the last SLCTN by Molinero only took care of music outside of our rap and hip hop universe we now head back into it. While Chillmatic is a skilled hip hop DJ and selector, he also loves all the connected genres from jazz, soul, disco, funk, RnB and many more as well. All of this is displayed in the beautiful mix he recorded for us. If you’re from Nuremberg you should definitely catch him play in venues like blok and many others. Thanks for this exceptional SLCTN Andi and now simply listen and enjoy boys and girls. Hugs and kisses, Ohrenschmaus Podcast! <3

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #066 – Wiska

Our Podcasts

Spring is here and we continue our uplifting output with Ohrenschmaus Podcast #066 by Wiska from Curitiba, Brazil. Those bright and warm days have been a real treat to our spiritual and physical well-being. The soundtrack for those days definitely came from Wiska aka William Machado who got in touch with us back in 2018 when cloudy skies dominated and turned everything into a grey and sad veneer. Since his mix was so positive and energetic we decided to delay it into a brighter future. So here we are now showcasing this absolute beauty of a house mix. Warm and jazzy vibes lay a calm foundation which evolves during the set with some help of agile vocals and disco burners. This one really is a movie and we want to watch it a couple of times. We hope you do, too. Thanks, William for this superb podcast. Xoxo, Ohrenschmaus Podcast!

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #065 – Pastel Autumn

Our Podcasts

After enjoying the last summery and bright days of February we somehow lost the focus with our podcast series. Due to this our 65th instalment comes in a bit late. But, the delay is definitely worth it. The latest addition to our series comes from Pastel Autumn from Sydney, Australia. We first noticed him when he mixed Smile for a While’s thirtieth episode. Soon after that, he contacted us and it was clear that we wanted to save him a spot. Although it took us quite a while. However, now everything is put in place and his excellent selection is up and running. With a sensitive arrangement that makes its way through some deep house tunes, dub techno gems and tribal house all the way to classic and soulful house music it’s just a beautiful trip. Combined with his silky soft mixing this one is a flawless display of house music in all colours. Please enjoy his work and give him a follow!

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #064 – K.atou

Our Podcasts

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #064 is brought to you by K.atou from Greece. We are following her musical journey for 10 years now. It all began with her excellent house mix for Keep It Deep back than, but throughout the years she broadened her musical horizon as you can hear in her techno excursion for our series. When we think about K.atou we simply think about bringing both genres together in a sick way. House meets techno and it happens so naturally while she always keeps a mood and groove going. The 64th edition of our series displays this quality in perfection. You can literally feel and hear the experience she got throughout the years while being a part of Six D.O.G.S and Revolt! in Athens. Her mix is just a beautiful stroll through some of the best melodic and industrial techno you may find. So please enjoy this one to the fullest. Your Ohrenschmaus Podcast!

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #063 – Fred Buddah

Our Podcasts

Fred Buddah from South Africa is trying to push the South African deep house scene with his own sound. Incorporating mother earth’s sounds and African originals into his own interpretation of deep house and techno. It’s not just ending up in a unique sound it also brings the sound of his surroundings to people all over the world. Exactly this combination is what struck is in 2014 as he released the Mystical Arts EP on Roots Go Deep with Ofuren. Since those days we knew he had to be on our show and finally, he’s here. The founder of Roots Go Deep was immediately down with the idea of featuring him in our podcast series and now closes 2018 in a perfect manner. Earthy deep house spiced with some strong rhythms and energetic pads blast away winter’s grey sadness.

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #062 – Anaid

Our Podcasts

Our 62nd episode features Anaid. She is a passionate singer, producer and DJ from Bucharest and established herself well in the micro house scene over the last couple of years. She is releasing music since 2013 on labels like Ar.ctic, Defora Records, Micromood_rec, Plusar Recordings, Unfelde Records and Cimelde Records. We came in touch a couple of weeks ago while sharing songs and we asked her if she was kind enough to contribute when she‘s got some spare time. Thankfully she provided a deep and driving mix with a sublime selection of micro tracks and excellent mixing. We are very happy about this percussion-heavy mix that is located in-between micro house and minimal techno since it’s the first of its genre on our platform. She created a mesmerizing balance between energetic drum tracks and fluffy synth based house beauties. This interplay simply levels this podcast in great fashion. Due to this variety, this podcast holds a certain tension throughout and appeals to be a smooth roller coaster ride. Thanks for that, your Ohrenschmaus Podcast!

[Not] Hip Hop Selection #017 by Molinero

Our SLCTNs

The summer slowly comes to an end and we wanted to bring some bright memories back. So we got in touch with Molinero, a fine selector from Nuremberg that has a strong taste in house music, but even more so in the fields of disco, funk, folk and foreign music. So we asked him to do a SLCTN for us and here we are. SLCTN #017 is the first one without any rap or beats in it. Positive vibes all the way and the unofficial title already says it all: Reflections of summer. It combines 16 records from 13 countries. But don’t call it world music. German fusion meets latin jazz from Martinique, Carribean dub and many other genres from the rest of the world. Take your chance and see him playing beautiful tracks at Blok, Nuremberg every now and then or head over to his Soundcloud account linked below. Thanks for this uplifting and positive recording, Marius. This is excellent!

Hip Hop Selection #016 by Basco

Our SLCTNs

Sascha Uhlig aka Basco from ashore is a music aficionado we follow for a long time. His musical taste is close to ours regardless of the genre. For this reason, it was clear that we need him to join our roster. Since his love for and taste in hip-hop satisfies us, whether it is classic rap or more modern and pop orientated stuff. He was the number one pick for our SLCTN series. With his mix for episode 16 the Hip Hop Selection series is back after a 2-year long break. After a year now it finally worked out for both sides and it was really worth the wait. His podcast simply reflects and depicts what we’ve hoped for. German underground rap, experimental beats and US heavyweights from the past and present. The ashore member mixed artists like DJ Sotofett with Ghostface Killah, Pusha T, Eloquent and more with ease.

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #061 – Mr. Fonk

Our Podcasts

With number 61 in our small series we warmly welcome Mr. Fonk from Berlin. As many others he also has a Franconian background and shares our love for house. He clearly focuses on warm and sample based house as you can hear in his mix. Additionally he’s an expert when it comes to disco music which explains his love for disco infused house. Besides his musical taste he also is a very active person and manages three labels. Those go by the name of Smile For A While, All That Jelly and Edits For The Common Man. Some little background information we first met in May this year when we played at Paloma Bar in Berlin and only said hi to each other because we were kind of busy with so many friends of us that showed up. Afterwards we got in touch and immediately clicked. Since then we are in constant exchange and we came up with some ideas, one of them was a podcast for us. Few weeks later and here we are showcasing almost 2 hours of fine selected and mixed house that founds on house in all its facettes, colors and grooves. You will find some proper deep house, as well as disco influences and energetic, almost technoid stuff in there. It’s a real treat!
