Mr Fonk is a true DJ and very enthusiastic about it. You not only experience it through his well-selected mixes and gigs. Also talking to him and his love for certain tracks, eras and labels clearly transports his love. Living in Franconia as a kid, he made some of his first steps in the area around Nuremberg when it comes to clubbing. After living in Frankfurt and now Berlin for a time he experienced many different club cultures. All of them, but more so the people made an impact on him and his label S4AW. Smile for a while is not just a name it’s a mindset. What he wants to do with his label as well as his beliefs are just some of the topics we went through during our conversation. Keep reading
Ohrenschmaus Podcast #064 is brought to you by K.atou from Greece. We are following her musical journey for 10 years now. It all began with her excellent house mix for Keep It Deep back than, but throughout the years she broadened her musical horizon as you can hear in her techno excursion for our series. When we think about K.atou we simply think about bringing both genres together in a sick way. House meets techno and it happens so naturally while she always keeps a mood and groove going. The 64th edition of our series displays this quality in perfection. You can literally feel and hear the experience she got throughout the years while being a part of Six D.O.G.S and Revolt! in Athens. Her mix is just a beautiful stroll through some of the best melodic and industrial techno you may find. So please enjoy this one to the fullest. Your Ohrenschmaus Podcast!

The 8th and last track on our Christmas Candies compilation is by Birke TM. One of the founders of Neighbour Recordings and one half of Base Pilot. Forty15 is a serious deep house stomper with lots of soul as said by the vocals: „Yeah oh yeah I got soul!“ As always Birke TM brings some unique sounding drums and percussions to the table with lots of pattern changes and multi-layered samples. The vocal truly speaks from the bottom of his and our heart to the listener. Message is key. Always! The nice mid-tempo tune strikes with organic sounds, an emotional foundation and the right amount of cosiness for these cold days. This one is a lotion for your body and soul. Providing closeness and the feeling of a warm and loving hug. Love is the theme and love is the message and love is what we all need. So, thanks for your support boys and girls. This was the last addition and we are now set and done. The tape will be out in February 2019 featuring all the free downloads. So feel free to support us and buy the tape as soon as it is ready. We hope 2019 will bring joy, love, happiness and health to you and your loved ones. Your Ohrenschmaus Podcast! <3
Hoke delivers the 7th track of our Christmas Candies compilation. Point:Click is like a raw sounding machine placed in a beautiful glade. Nature meets technology in this piece of music which sounds like samurais are playing around with ancient Asian samples on an MPC. Dirty drums and raw percussions are the perfect antipoles for the smooth and soft pad sounds. The audible patina has something fascinating with the wild mixture of rough and silky sounds. And that’s what we love about this production in particular, but also when it comes to Hoke’s output in general. It always offers this variety and depth in sounds that just hits a spot. Thanks for this beauty, Stefan!
Serdal from Vay Vay Records was kind enough to also send a track through. The 6th addition to our series is a beautiful gem that delivers a smart and emotional intro. Serdal is not just a smart guy that has a long relationship with us, but also an allrounder. He hosts Apnea for many years in Nuremberg. A house and techno night on a boat. Besides that, he is a serious DJ that is deeply connected to Romanian sounds. With 4Hertz he runs his own club and if that’s not enough for you he as well owns a terrific bar called Harlem. While staying busy and well connected to different scenes he remains a high-quality output when it comes to his productions. In 2019 some of his tracks will finally see the light of day and they are nothing but sublime. Place With No Hate (Intro) is a cosy and emotional trip through a shallow summer night when everything is perfectly balanced and kept in harmony. Sensual vocal chops meet romantic drum sounds everlasting strings. This track feels like home!
Light Leak from Nuremberg is a friend we met several years ago due to our love for deep house. Even for those mid-tempo tunes that normally won’t be played in a club surrounding. With Wiesengrund he delivered a beautiful ambient gem. The playful field recordings add some nature vibes to the organic audio display. The Wiesengrund is a well-known place for Erlangen’s youth. There have been open airs for many years and also it’s the perfect place to spend your spare time in summer. That feeling of a summery day with screaming and playing kids is communicated with all its positivity in a flawless way. This one is a beauty that will add some light moments to your grey winter days. Thanks, Leaki for that sweet production. We will get through this rainy day now!
Mahone is a long time friend of Ohrenschmaus Podcast and already joined our mix series some years ago. While feeling the distance doing its work, we never felt a distance in our friendship. Thanks to the homie Birke TM we got connected again and already met in real life as well some years ago. Besides being just a classy human Mahone also has some expertise when it comes to productions. He produced this one, especially for our Christmas Candies series. Untitled is a raw and progressive club tool that feels at home somewhere between house and techno. Dirty drum sounds that have almost no attack. Combined with the squeaky moving pad sounds this track becomes a hypnotic energy drink so to say. All ingredients only follow one rule: rough energy. So it is with the percussion elements as well. While bringing endless energy to the table the track doesn’t miss any deepness. We have to say that this might be the biggest trick Untitled has to offer. Due to this wild combination and rough sketch, it’s a beautiful and effective weapon for peak time clubbing. Thanks, Mahone that’s some awesome work!

Drei Farben House is back on Ohrenschmaus Podcast again. Tenderpark’s founder offers a warm and dreamy deep house cut with his For The Rhodes original. After playing bass for quite a while he more and more adds basslines that he plays and arranges by himself. So it is on this one as well. The organic sound just perfectly adds to his organic sound aesthetic. For The Rhodes by Drei Farben House is a blissful house track that spreads warmth all from its core to your inner. Soulful vocal chops related to disco, R’n’B and soul fill up spaces between the extraordinary self-played bassline. In combination with the variety offered by percussions, drums and pads it’s just another track that features his unique signature sound. Warm, deep and cosy house music for these cold days!

Fred Buddah from South Africa is trying to push the South African deep house scene with his own sound. Incorporating mother earth’s sounds and African originals into his own interpretation of deep house and techno. It’s not just ending up in a unique sound it also brings the sound of his surroundings to people all over the world. Exactly this combination is what struck is in 2014 as he released the Mystical Arts EP on Roots Go Deep with Ofuren. Since those days we knew he had to be on our show and finally, he’s here. The founder of Roots Go Deep was immediately down with the idea of featuring him in our podcast series and now closes 2018 in a perfect manner. Earthy deep house spiced with some strong rhythms and energetic pads blast away winter’s grey sadness.

Pierre from Erlangen is not just a stable uploader on Soundcloud we also consider him a close friend. Due to his presence on Soundcloud and in the club scene of Nuremberg almost 10 years ago, we immediately clicked. We always discussed tracks and sent projects back and forth so both sides were able to grow as producers, DJs and first and foremost as humans. While we took back from producing and focused on DJing and our podcast he always kept going. With Space Travel he proves that hard work and just going for it makes a difference. In contrast to his older tracks that already offered a glimpse of what he’s capable of, he now created a true dance floor powerhouse. The agile synth just keeps you locked in the zone with his elegant energy. Together with the strong drum elements and those deep, long strings, it’s just working beautifully. Space Travel by Elpierro cleary is his best work so far. That’s why we are so happy to feature this excellent production in our Christmas Candies series. As always it is free to download on Soundcloud. Thank you, Pierre, we really appreciate your music and friendship!

Christmas Candies is our second December series or compilation. Some years ago we had the idea to gather some tracks by friends of Ohrenschmaus Podcast and upload them during the Christmas time as a gift for our listeners and readers. The first series was called Candle Tracks and followed the same rules. Music that is free to download for everyone on Soundcloud with only one thing in common: quality! And that’s where we continue in 2018 with the Christmas Candies series. This compilations sound is located in or somewhere around the house genre and simply wants to display music from our circle of friends. When the series comes to an end we will produce a tape compilation with all of the tracks that will feature a nice design. The tape will be 100% handmade and comes in limited numbers. So if you’re a tape fan or simply want to support us just order yourself a quality tape. It will be sold at a reasonable price that only covers our production costs. But for now, stay tuned for the upcoming pieces of music and enjoy your Christmas gift. One love, Ohrenschmaus Podcast.
