The Mellow Woman by ALBA is finally online. After several busy and stressful months, we finally managed to upload this beauty of a mix to our channel. Ohrenschmaus Podcast [Not Just] Hip Hop Selection #022 delivers a wide range of different genres of music. Female power all the way through. As we try our best to include people of all nations, religions, genders and cultures it was clear to hit up ALBA. She’s not just a positive soul but also fighting for emancipation and other good causes. During the COVID-19 crisis, she pulled up a streaming festival called NBG HipHub which raised money for cultural locations, bars and concert venues. At the same time, this platform will serve as a hub that connects people from creative fields out of the Nuremberg, Fürth, Erlangen area. Just to shine a light on a small part of her activism. We will add all the links to her and her projects at the end, but for now please enjoy her stellar selection. Thanks, ALBA and bussi bussi! <3
Moodyzwen takes over. Another month another Sven in the mix. It’s July and the sun is bringing us some proper days and cold drinks. So it’s the perfect timing to upload Moodyzwen’s mix. He arranged a splendid selection of tracks that range from proper deep house to house classics, some dope vocal house and of course some gems we don’t know by now. It’s just bringing the summer vibes that make us feel good. It’s exactly what we expected from the Essen-born DJ that is a key source for our crate-digging for years now thanks to his The Tribute Mix Show. We really love the outcome and want to say thank you big time Sven. So, boys and girls, grab a drink and enjoy the sun while playing this one. Your, OP. <3

For episode 70 we’ve invited one of the key players in the German house scene: Sven Helwig. He’s not just one of the peeps behind the „German House Community“, but also was a resident at Offenbach’s Robert Johnson club for some time with a party he held with Gerd Janson. If you’re still not convinced about the quality and experience he delivered over the years and still delivers you simply should spin his mix for our series. House classics and anthems all the way. We really wanted to bring him in for many years and finally reached out to him. Luckily, he was down in a second and delivered exactly what we were hoping for. So enjoy his beautiful contribution, your OP. <3

There are crazy times at the moment and we’ve been shifting our focus to support a huge project in the Nuremberg area over the last weeks and more importantly observing the situation in the US. We as a podcast that strictly takes releases music from black culture and black music are saddened, angry and worried about our black friends in the USA. We stand by your side no matter what! Black Lives Matter! It’s a total disgrace how people of colour are treated and their suffering needs to end. It’s important to hear their stories, that’s why we won’t speak out about a problem we don’t have experience about. Still, we know that the white system is the problem and we as white people have to fight with you to get rid of this abusive system. One love, your OP.
While everybody is trapped inside looking out of their window, watching live streams, taking a sunbath on their balcony or doing something else more or less productive we wanted to give you a soothing soundtrack. Albert Imhof came around the corner with a blissful mix that perfectly fits the SLCTN series which has expanded and is not just taking care of hip hop anymore. Strange times need strange sounds and that’s what Albert perfectly brought to the table. Gloomy tracks melt into a river that’s filled with colourful and ease sounds. Sometimes you’re the fish, sometimes you’re the river. However, just follow the flow and don’t fight the stream. You’ll find out why on yourself while stumbling upon some gems in the vigorous water. Thanks for the second trip through your musical universe Albert. It’s tempting!
As Albert and Ohrenschmaus Podcast are close friends of blok, we decided to upload this mix a few days earlier. We want to help them with their superb poster and wine delivery which they’ve set up. If you’re from Nuremberg you can buy a poster or wine and they will deliver it to you this Saturday, the 11th of April. This supports them financially in these rough times and helps them to pay their workers and bills. If you’re from outside of Nuremberg they will send it to you as well. If you can help simply donate even if you can’t get your hands on a poster or a bottle of wine. Patrick’s bar is one of the best spots for high-quality music. It is a steady platform that gives DJs, musicians and creatives a chance to shine.

Hello, beloved women and men out there. It seems to be the perfect moment to release our 20th SLCTN on this rainy and cloudy Monday. While we were sitting inside taking care of some work that piled up during the last few weeks we listened to Sodbrendon’s mix again and besides falling in love again, we also remembered, that it is about time to get it online. So, here it is. Sod:brendon aka 4Eggz aka Gage4000 is not just a part of Keep It Deep, Money Can’t Dance and Let It Be Techno where he plays some dubby techno and house gems. No, he also has a great taste in hip hop instrumentals, rap, r&b, funk, soul and more as you can hear in his contribution. We are delighted to have him and really fell in love with the tunes he included. Gems on gems on gems. Check it out and feel the warmth. One love, OP.

February, what’s good?! Matt Francis is a Nuremberg based DJ, promoter and music lover. With his Keep It Deep party, he made quite a name for himself and his taste in deep and trippy house music. In 2019 he established his Straat 264 party at Die Rakete in Nuremberg with some friends of his. In contrast, to Keep It Deep he clearly focuses on techno, broken beats and new wave at Straat 264. His mix for our catalogue number 69 showcases the best of both worlds. Mixing from techno to broken beats, deep house, disco, new wave and back again. This one is versatile, we hope you’re too. Thanks Matt!

SLCTN #019 has landed. DUFTE mixed a bunch of different styles to welcome 2020 as colourful as possible. As a part of the FILM51 collective, we first heard him spin hip hop from new school to old school to everything that makes you bounce in present times. As we followed him from this moment on we saw that his musical vision is almost limitless. And we like that. Besides being a member of to F51 collective he also spins some records with his Liebeskommando and is a driving force in Fürth’s sub-cultural scene. For us, he tried to gather some of his most beloved tracks of 2019 and we definitely feel his groove strongly. We hope you do too!

He’s back! Chris Binder long-time friend, back2back partner, house connaisseur and curlyhead delivers a superb 75-minute long-lasting ride through different sub-genres and directions of house music. Old and new, energetic and calm. It’s just a well-balanced mixture of club related music he feels and therefore a perfect fingerprint of his vision as a music lover. Perfect warm feelings for your cold winter days that are already here or at least on the way. Grab a cup of tea and have a little dance in grandma’s self-made socks.

After an enormous break, we are back boys and girls. We really enjoyed the summer this year while also going through some exciting times in our private lives. Due to those changes, we will take a step back here at Ohrenschmaus Podcast. From now on we will only continue with our podcasts and selections leaving the journalistic stuff aside for the moment. Anyways. We are back with a delicious mix from Zola. She is on our radar for ages already and we also have her mix for quite a while. (We are so sorry for the delay!) As a part of ashore, she entertained us with lovely house, uplifting disco and dubby tunes for years. For our 67th mix, she travelled through a bunch of genres connecting the bits in pure elegance. Thank you Zola for everything, we are deeply in love with your contribution.

After 6 months our SLCTNs series continues with an extended two hours lasting journey by Chillmatic from Nuremberg. Chillmatic is a part of the Ghettoblaster radio show which broadcasts regularly on Radio Z. While the last SLCTN by Molinero only took care of music outside of our rap and hip hop universe we now head back into it. While Chillmatic is a skilled hip hop DJ and selector, he also loves all the connected genres from jazz, soul, disco, funk, RnB and many more as well. All of this is displayed in the beautiful mix he recorded for us. If you’re from Nuremberg you should definitely catch him play in venues like blok and many others. Thanks for this exceptional SLCTN Andi and now simply listen and enjoy boys and girls. Hugs and kisses, Ohrenschmaus Podcast! <3
