Ohrenschmaus Podcast #054 – Arsy

Our Podcasts

With our 54th mix we warmly welcome Arsy. Thanks to our strong network, in this case Marc FM, we had the chance to get in touch with this young man. After a quick research in our record collection we stumbled across his name on a few EPs we own. Dough! With releases and productions for Laubenpiepers Finest, liebe*detail and many more this lad already made a few things right production wise if you would be more than humble. As a DJ he keeps up with that high quality standard and heavily spins dub and acid infused tracks whenever he’s behind those lovely Technics turntables. Exactly that’s what he sent us for the 54th Ohrenschmaus Podcast. Melodic dub techno with sweet breaks, long-lasting chords and lots of meditational elements. At the mid section of his mix he slowly brings in rough and powerful drum sounds that introduce us to soft acid synths that evolve into loud and harsh wolves towards the end. We really feel the winter with all his beauty and dark energy when we listen to this podcast time and time again. Great work throughout, but have a listen by yourself. Thanks Arsy, stomping work!

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #053 – Freund der Familie

Our Podcasts

Edition 53 is finally online and what a surprise, it is superb. We stumbled across Freund der Familie a few years ago when Baaz made a remix for their “The Symbian Remixes” EP. Besides the remixes we decided to go through their catalogue and check out some mixes and podcasts. said and done, since then we are really enjoying the project a lot. Now we managed to get Freund der Familie for our podcast series. Lots of styles are offered throughout their contribution. Bumping house, smooth ambient, sharp vocals and some nice dub infusions can be found in there. This mix really offers a lot of variety and tension. It’s far from average and stands out in a positive way in contrast to most of the podcasts at the moment.

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #051 – Audiorität

Our Podcasts

After the great left-field, ambient and experimental trip from Maria Brant for our 50th mix we now go on with Hamburg based Audiorität. As we are regularly listening to the It Works and Deep Afterhour series, we are kind of familiar with some of his mixes already. As soon as he inboxed us it was clear we really want to work with him because of his lovely selections from the fields of house and techno that are always strongly connected with the dubby sub-genres. This mix is a perfect display for his dub influenced approach towards electronic music. Thanks for your superb selection and flawless mix, we really dig the simplicity a lot. You can download the mix as a WAV-file if you like. Thanks, your OP.

Porter - Elevate - Rubisco

Review: Porter – Elevate – Rubisco

HouseReviews

Porter finally released his “Elevate EP” on Rubisco. Rubisco is the freshly found label run by Nick Beringer. After a neat bunch of releases, Nick finally launched his own imprint. The Berlin based house-head made the next step after releasing on various labels before. After the first output by himself, it is now Porter’s time to shine. Sounds cheesy, sounds good.  With his “Elevate EP”, Porter showcases three strong house cuts that feature all the goods a tidy house EP has to offer. Powerful drums, solid pads, exquisite strings and a beautiful atmosphere. Let’s just get into the details.

Review: Baaz – Two (For You) EP – Office Recordings

AllgemeinHouseReviewsTechno

After Office Recordings 10th release by Iron Curtis and his “Maple EP” Baaz is back on his own Imprint. Office Recordings 11th release, again, shows a very different side. The Berlin based dj and producer showed his broad musical taste throughout recent releases. Dub techno under his Eric Miller moniker. Sharp house sounds on the latest Idealistmusic. Techno on this very record we are reviewing. The sound ranges from dub techno to ambient and into playful techno. Another side added, another one which is way above average.

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #047 – Alessandro Crimi

Our Podcasts

After we had some delays the last couple of times, we are now speeding up a little. Three weeks after Marc FM’s extraordinary ambient podcast, we are now back on track. Alessandro Crimi took care of our 47th edition. The “Waehlscheibe” head honcho is on our list for a really long time. His outrageously good podcasts caught our attention a while ago and now he joins the series, finally. Besides his superb taste in house and techno music he also knows the hip-hop goodies. (Maybe we have to ask for a hip-hop podcast as well?!) Alessandro sent us this nice journey through different styles of contemporary club music, combining modern and classic house sounds. Perfect for these sunny days or your pre-drinking session on the weekend. Make sure to check this spectacular 90 minutes, your Ohrenschmaus Podcast.

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #047 – Alessandro Crimi by Ohrenschmaus Podcast

After our last podcast by Marc FM who took us on a journey through ambient stuff we now warmly welcome Alessandro Crimi. We know him for quite a while with his fine Waehlscheibe label and of course his great taste in music.

Moon - Industrie und Zärtlichkeit

Review: Moon – Industrie & Zärtlichkeit – Frank Music

HouseReviewsTechno

Johannes and Johannes team up again. We are speaking about Johannes Paluka, better known as Iron Curtis and Frank Music head honcho Johannes Albert. The Berlin residents joined forces again to craft their first album as Moon. “Industrie & Zärtlichkeit” is the final product out of this collaboration and it surely depicts the musical influences both have, but somehow it offers much more. “Industrie & Zärtlichkeit” is not simply filled with Johannes Albert’s rough and cheesy house sound and it’s not only Iron Curtis’ melodies and exciting chord progression. It’s more of a journey through different decades, times and styles of electronic music developed so far, merged into their very own sound that somewhat pays tribute to everything from the past and also gives us a vision of what could come next. The vinyl LP consists of nine exciting originals and two remixes. Lerosa and Black Spuma took care of the remixes and twisted the original material into their own understanding of electronic music.

Review: Drei Farben House - Fluency Fabrics - Tenderpark

Review: Drei Farben House – Fluency Fabrics LP – Tenderpark

HouseReviews

Three and a half years after Drei Farben House’s third LP “Choice Item”, he is back with his fourth long-playing record “Fluency Fabrics”. It’s the 20th release for his very own Tenderpark imprint and therefore a very nice anniversary. Seven tracks made it onto the record in the end and all of them are spiced with lots of vocal, funk, disco and soul samples. Drei Farben House again delivered what he is known for already. House and deep house with a certain warmth, on point grooves and samples that are a tribute to the originals they were taken from. Of course the whole album is not coming up with serious changes, but that’s not the vision Micha is following. Once again he plays around with sounds that are quite familiar and he already used, but for this album he enmeshes them differently. He flips the old samples and comes up with something new that is still true to his sound. The same approach can be seen on the artwork. “Choice Item” and “Fluency Fabrics” both depict architecture in a natural environment, so the aesthetical idea remained the same. So both albums connect on many levels and still “Fluency Fabrics” is recognizably the next step, with more details soundwise and an even clearer visual message, created by Till Sperle.

Tilman by Lena Usenko

Interview: Tilman – “Creativity comes and goes, sometimes I end up with something great and work on it, or it’s nothing I like and just let it go.”

DJsInterviewsProducer

Tilman from Mainz is a busy person right now. After running his great klamauk label for quite a while already in a successful way he now also takes care of Fine, the label he runs with Johannes Albert. If you know Johannes and Tilman you definitely get why they get along so well and run the label with great effort. Tilman is positive all the way, not just regards his music, but as well as a person. You feel his warmth and his enthusiasm for music and life from the very beginning, even before he says something. Coming from the hip hop background, making his way through house, soul, disco and funk he now is where he is. Displpaying a huge variety of sounds and styles, how he got there and what happened on the way is just one facet we talked about.
