Ohrenschmaus Podcast #046 – Marc FM

Our Podcasts

Small delays are common to our series as you all know. We stick to that, proven by edition number 46. We are 11 days late when it comes to our regular schedule, but it is worth the wait. We’ve been on the hunt for Marc FM quite a while, since he is not just a good friend but also an exceptional dj. Furthermore he’s an absolute perfectionist. That’s why it took us so long to find a spot, but makes his contribution stand out and so special. The former Tape Club resident and host of Satisfaction at Paloma Bar created a 90 minutes lasting journey through sounds. Futuristic and socio-critical conversations meet meditative pads, chords and strings. It’s not just “another” ambient or drone podcast, which seems to be very popular at the moment. It is a sophisticated journey he has built and selected, to us it is like an audiobook. The rest needs to be explored by yourself and that’s the joy of it. Thanks for your delightful mix Marc, we really appreciate it.

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #046 – Marc FM by Ohrenschmaus Podcast

With our 46th edition we finally managed to welcome Marc FM to the series with a very special ambient mix that takes us through the past and future. It’s not just another ambient or drone mix, it is a real journey, almost an audiobook.

Skipson - Plastek EP - DreamAwake Records

Review: Skipson – Plastek EP – DreamAwake Records

Skipson is back, finally. The wait is over and it was worth it though. After several releases on Deep Vibes, Quintessentials, Maria Colors, Raum…Musik and many other labels, the Berlin based house head is back in the game. With his new “Plastek EP” he created the content for DreamAwake Records’ first vinyl release. As usual Skipson is doing some serious things with his very unique house sound that is heavily influenced by hip hop. Chopped samples get mashed up with cozy vibes. Three originals and a remix by Edward made it onto the record in the end. Superb house music with Skip’s signature sound on twelve inch again. Don’t call it a comeback! Keep reading

Review: Tilman & Soutine - One Day Off - Fine

Review: Tilman & Soutine – One Day Off – Fine

Tilman and Soutine team up for the fourth release on the small Fine imprint, which is run by Tilman himself and Frank Music’s very own Johannes Albert. While Tilman is pretty familiar to us with his warm, discoish and sample based house sound, we had to do some research about Soutine. Now that we did that, we can say it’s a match sound wise. Soutine, who is based in Florence relies on the same idea behind his music, but he plays around with more uptempo styles as displayed on his “OZ” EP which came out in February 2016 on his own Oltrarno Recordings. Using the same foundation and generating a neat symbiosis out of the different influences they have, a very enjoyable record came out in the end of that process.

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #043 – Markus “Mutze” Mutzenbacher

Our Podcasts

We open things up with the return of Markus “Mutze” Mutzenbacher in 2017. The Würzburg based resident of MS Zufriedenheit, Piknik and Kontur offered us a nice trip through ambient, house, techno and break beat. It is so good we had to bring him and his outstanding taste back to Ohrenschmaus Podcast. So here it is 71 minutes of well selected and precisely mixed tracks for the cold January. His great abilities are not just notable in his wonderful mixes, Markus also has the knowledge and understands the craft like no other when it comes to smooth warm ups and danceable closing sets. To put it in a nutshell he is a hell of a dj! Thanks for the second contribution to the series, we are delighted!

Tilman broadcasts 4 warm and soulful house cuts as the second release on the Fine imprint he runs together with partner in crime Johannes Albert.

Review: Tilman – Back to the People – Fine

With the second release Tilman, one half of the team behind Fine, takes over. No artwork, just a simple stamp and great music. There’s nothing that distracts you from the thing that counts: the music. Tilman crafted 4 superb house cuts that offer some neat sampling, downtempo, deepness and an old school feeling. In the end four very warm and soulful tracks made their way onto the “Back to the People” EP. Positive music for the dark and cold winter period.

Review: Baaz – Untitled [Office09] – Office Recordings

The 9th release on Office Recordings not only provides four sexy house tracks by label honcho Baaz, it also comes with a nice cover that was again designed by Super Quiet. Before Office Recordings celebrates its 10th release Baaz once again puts out some fresh music on his very own label from Berlin. Four minimalistic and yet playful tracks made it onto the record with great artwork. Just a very nice record that not just sounds good on your record player, it also looks awesome on your wall. Review: Baaz – Untitled [Office08]- Office Recordings

Baaz once again offers a neat little package on his own Office Recordings Imprint. The “Untitled” EP is the 8th release on his Berlin based house and techno label. A very enjoyable set of house cuts and ambient works came out at the end of the productional process, again he shows his fine sense for deep house. On top he added some nice ambient vibes and shows his progress when it comes to producing different genres of club music, as you can also hear on his new project which goes by the name Eric Miller with already 2 releases on the sublime Sushitech label where he takes care of dub techno and darker sounds.
