Ohrenschmaus Podcast #053 – Freund der Familie

Our Podcasts

Edition 53 is finally online and what a surprise, it is superb. We stumbled across Freund der Familie a few years ago when Baaz made a remix for their “The Symbian Remixes” EP. Besides the remixes we decided to go through their catalogue and check out some mixes and podcasts. said and done, since then we are really enjoying the project a lot. Now we managed to get Freund der Familie for our podcast series. Lots of styles are offered throughout their contribution. Bumping house, smooth ambient, sharp vocals and some nice dub infusions can be found in there. This mix really offers a lot of variety and tension. It’s far from average and stands out in a positive way in contrast to most of the podcasts at the moment.

Ohrenschmaus Podcast #050 – Maria Brant

Our Podcasts

“Watching decks turn – but it is important to listen” that’s the subheading for our 50th mix. The podcast series this time showcases Maria Brant. We never thought about making it to this ridiculous number, but here we are. And we will continue our work, that’s for sure. Maria Brant a DJ, radio host, promoter and of course a friend of us finally is involved in our small project. His mix is more than a podcast. It simply is a radio show without talking. The first half of the mix has a cosy mood and highlights some soft-beat stuff, ambient, electronica, world music and some minor drone influences. The second half matches the overall feeling and taste but showcases some more club orientated qualities. Left field and experimental house meets mid-tempo house and soft techno with retro synths, lush pads and lots of analogue sounds. Take your time and follow this beautiful acoustic scenery. Thanks Christian for participating, your OP.

Review: Various Artists – 3YRSVDR – Verydeeprecords

BeatsHouseReviewsTechno

Verydeeprecords is now around for three years and celebrates their birthday with a nice compilation that goes by the name “3YRSVDR”. 15 tracks made it onto the tape, which comes in an artsy cover and a puristic, white cassette. As usual the Nuremberg label features tracks from themselves and friends. On board are Me Succeeds, Christoff Riedel, Carlesy, Allie, [ ], Bambi Davidson, An Elm, Philipp Roth, Magic Meru, Soft Grid, Red On, Lorin Strohm, Edna X, Stadt aus Draht, Vincent von Flieger and William Black. Some of them share originals, while others remixed tracks. In the end Verydeeprecords offers a nice range of sounds from bass music, songwriter stuff and experimental techno with their “Three years of Verydeeprecords [3YRSVDR]” package.

Red On - Ghana Remixed

Review: Red On – Ghana Remixed – Verydeeprecords

HouseReviewsTechno

The 15th release of the Nuremberg based label Verydeeprecords is the first one to appear on vinyl, after several tapes and digital projects from artists like Bambi Davidson, Christoff Riedel, Vincent von Flieger, Willis Anne, Magic Meru and many more. “Ghana Remixed” by Red On is a great four track heavy EP with remixes and edits by The Marx Trukker, A. Elm, Alex Ketzer and Red On himself under his Philipp Roth alias. As usual there were no musical boundaries on this project and it ended up with diverse re-interpretations of the original tracks, somewhere between left-field house and experimental techno. Javier Carballo is a new and upcoming producer from the Canary Islands. The Spaniard makes his debut on Tabla Records after output on labels like La Vie En Rose and his very own Overall Music Limited Series imprint. The “Loopera Prima EP” depicts his sense for minimalistic and driving techno and house music. The sixth publication from Tabla offers three original tracks by Javier and a great remix by S. Ohrenschmaus Podcast – Hip Hop Selection #012.2 “Synthetix” by Jazz:Pa

Our SLCTNs

With Ohrenschmaus Podcast Hip Hop Selection #012.2 we continue our split series by our good friend Jazz:Pa and finish this project as well. In selection #012.1 Benni took care of organic sounds with that golden feeling from the 90ies, that’s why part one was called Organix. In part two he takes care of synthetic music from the hip hop field, including so called future beats, bass music and just modern hip hop beats and rap tracks. That’s also the sound you’ll find at his party Beat Thang at K4, one of the best parties in and around Nuremberg. If you want to know more about Benni aka Jazz:Pa please check part one of this split series and take the time to read the short information there as well.
