Ohrenschmaus Podcast #045 – Cromby

Our Podcasts

Cromby is the man behind our 45th edition of the monthly displayed house and techno mixes. He blessed us with a nice selection of warm house tunes that have playful jazz elements, warm chords and deepness without limitation. The first time we stumbled across Cromby was back in the days when he released his “Planets and Parks EP” on the Berlin based Tenderpark Imprint by Drei Farben House. Now he is living in the capital city as well and plays some finely mixed house sets in different clubs. With his Boiler Room appearance together with his mate Swoose at the AVA festival he really convinced us to get in touch with him. That’s what we did and here we are now a few months later, presenting his lovely podcast. Please have fun with it and enjoy the 45th mix on Ohrenschmaus Podcast by Cromby.

Review: Opal Sunn - Untitled EP - Planet Sundae

Opal Sunn – Part I – Planet Sundae

HouseReviews

Opal Sunn comes out with their “Part I” EP on Planet Sundae at the perfect time. The cold and stormy days slowly disappear, instead the sun comes out for a few hours and warms our hearts, bodies and souls with some positive beams. Hiroaki OBA and Al Kassian, created the perfect vinyl for this weather shift with the lovely four tracker which they’ve created between 2015 and 2016. Together they’ve decided to go by the name of Opal Sunn and besides the beauty of the name it also perfectly delivers how the sound feels like: sunny. But not in a cheesy way, it’s very sophisticated and independent in comparison to many other releases at the moment. But not just the artists invested their best in creating the tracks, the guys from Planet Sundae completed the EP with a superb cover. The artwork is quite uncommon for house releases and is a nice mixture of old school paint feelings and modern fluid 3D objects. The RGB color shift in the liquid on the cover is just spectacular and a real eye catcher. Just quality work from all protagonists.

Moony Me - Contemplatin' - Klamauk

Review: Moony Me – Contemplatin’ EP – Klamauk

HouseReviews

The “Contemplatin’ EP” by Moony Me marks the ninth release by  Mainz based imprint Klamauk. As the labels sound is strongly connected with a warm and housey attempt towards club music this EP fits perfectly in their catalogue. Three original tracks by Vienna’s very own Moony Me and a nicely done remix by Iron Curtis offer a smooth package for every dj and collector as well. Moony Me himself is quite busy at the moment. After releasing his music on labels like Uncanny Valley, Sex Panda White, Rose Records and many more, he now handles his Secret Crunch label together with the also known Roman Rauch. With his “Contemplatin’ EP” on Klamauk he once again shows his love for warm sounding, soulful house music and the joy he has toying around with samples. Crunchy house music is the final good that comes out after the production process and that’s just the way it is. Keep reading

Simon Ferdinand - Kingsize - Polycarp

Review: Simon Ferdinand – Kingsize EP – Polycarp

HouseReviews

The “Kingsize EP” is the debut release on Simon Ferdinand’s very own and freshly founded Polycarp Records imprint. With several releases on labels like Night Drive Music, Landed Records and Frank Music he already put his name on the map. Now with his new label he has a proper foundation to release his own tracks and works from friends and artists that match his idea or share his vision of contemporary house music. With the “Kingsize EP” he sticks to his sound with loop-based and clearly structured club tracks that are still playful and come with a certain drive. The first release is a solid package of three original tracks and a decent Map.ache remix off the title track. Keep reading
