Interstate - Untitled EP - Whytenumbers

Review: Interstate – Untitled EP – Whytenumbers

HouseReviews

Interstate’s Untitled EP marks the first release for the newly founded Whytenumbers label. The strange spelling of “whyte” is a small hint to the main label it belongs to, we are talking about Blaqnumbers of course. While Blaqnumbers always played with a bit of downtempo and hip hop elements in combination with raw and deep house sounds, Whytenumbers now gets a bit more experimental and takes those elements more serious, as well as serving a bit of uptempo house as well. Interstate’s EP clearly depicts a strong relationship to early hip hop and electronic influences throughout. Four sublime tracks came across the road and build a great debut release for the Whytenumbers imprint. Keep reading

The nicely done and modern house EP "Vicmari" with 3 original tracks by Vicmari and a superb Cab Drivers remix on the great Eclipser Chaser imprint.

Review: Vicmari – Vicmari – Eclipser Chaser

HouseReviewsTechno

Vicmari is an up and coming artist from Durban, South Africa. South Africa’s vital house scene should be known by almost any of us with it’s love for deep and highly emotive house tracks. On Eclipser Chaser Vicmari not just releases his first vinyl he also releases a full album which goes by the name “Audiodidact”. While the LP comes out in digital form there will be an album sampler on vinyl, which is the one we will talk about in this review. The sampler will be the 7th release by Eclipser Chaser and Vicmari follows up artists like Warten Borgmann, DJ Honesty and Tommy Vicari Jnr. A nicely done and modern house EP with 3 original tracks and a superb Cab Drivers remix. Keep reading

Michael Melchner - Pi Came First - Colt Music

Review: Michael Melchner – π Came First – Colt Music

HouseReviewsTechno

Michael Melchner is back in business with his π Came First EP for Madrid’s very own Colt Music label. After several releases on labels like Concealed Sounds, Paragram, DoEasy, Love Letters From Oslo and many more, Michael once again shows us his idea of minimalistic house and techno that clearly relies on simple structures and a driving groove to keep dancers and clubgoers over the world in motion. For the third release by Colt Music he sticks to his strengths and offers a nicely done thee track EP. He joins the label after records from Hamid and a re-release by Brian Harden which also offered minimalistic and grooving tracks to the young label’s catalogue. Keep reading

Trux - Trux - Office Recordings

Review: Trux – Trux – Office Recordings

HouseReviewsTechno

Office Recordings’ 7th release came out a couple of days ago, displaying a brand new style of contemporary music. With catalogue nr. 7 by Baaz’s very own Berlin based imprint it’s not about club playtime, this release is for connoisseurs of experimental and left field house music and ambient fans. The producer behind this project Trux remains a mystery, no information can be found. The self titled Trux release comes as a kind of mini LP with eight tracks, four on the a-side and four on the b-side. A nice mix between obscure house and free floating ambient add a whole new sound idea to the label’s earlier releases. Again the artwork keeps up with the music in terms of quality, created by the highly talented Super Quiet. Keep reading

Various Artists - Chromophore EP - Slow Life

Review: Various Artists – Chromophore EP – Slow Life

HouseReviewsTechno

With the Chromophore EP Slow Life once again delivers a release that matches their unique way. There’s not much you have to say about the collective anymore. The Gang consisting of Laurine, DJ Tree, Cecilio, S. Moreira and P. Villalba stands for quality podcasts, selections, parties and superb releases. For catalogue number SL006 they gathered a nice amount of tracks and release their first double 12 inch. Besides Saverio Celestri and S. Moreira they also introduce us to some new names, such as Mick Welch, Luis Malon, Seafoam, A² and Primary Perception. All eight tracks adapt to the sound aesthetics that the label presented in their previous releases and also adds on to them in fashionable manner. Keep reading

Mix of the Week #10 // 2016: XDB at Control Club, Bucharest

Highlights of the WeekMix of the Week

We started our week with the live recording of XDB’s set at Control Club in Bucharest. XDB is one of the djs that are in the game for ages and still keep things hot always treating you with quality records and a superb vibe while playing a show. Atmospheric tracks that are guarded by some acid and dub bombs all the way. That might be a short description of this set, of course as usual XDB offers you powerful tracks that move your body and shows his unique way of arranging a club set. Old and forgotten gems and new releases or promos, Kosta always keeps you digging for the beauties he dropped. One of the most impressive things of his mixes for sure is the amount of widely unknown tracks from back in the days, but he also shows us his favourite tracks on Facebook with his regular postings of “Tracks i do really LOVE…” and he never disappoints musically. One of the best djs and producers for us. It seems like he is gifted on both ends with a very special attempt towards playing vinyl and creating his own productions.

Cromby - Planets and Parks EP - Tenderpark

Review: Cromby – Planets and Parks EP – Tenderpark

HouseReviews

After his first vinyl release on Love Revolution, Cromby gets a warm welcome by Drei Farben House on his Tenderpark imprint for his “Planets and Parks EP”. London based Cromby is a fresh guy production wise, whilst as a dj he holds down residencies at Belfast Institutions, Stiff Kitten & Shine and is quite experienced. He already warmed up the floor for Kerri Chandler, Jeremy Underground Paris and many more with his cozy interpretation of house music. His sound is characterised by rawness and an edge of chicago house taking part as well. For the 19th release on Tenderpark he came up with 3 original tracks full of warmth and soul. Keep reading
